Great if you’re backpacking with Hercules. We really wanted this to be fantastic. The utility is amazing, the design is lackluster (OR we ours has a problem, but we see at least one other similar review).
The Good:
In a Toaks 750 pot, attaching the liter and canister to the lid perfectly allows the Soto Windmaster to fit in the bottom of the pot and everything is virtually rattle free. Being able to use a spoon as a handle protects hands from the almost always way too hot handles on these pots or even allows you to remove the handles entirely. Having the measurements on top is fantastic for comparing cups to oz/ml since may meals tell you how many cups of water to use, but pots and bottles are almost always marked with oz/ml.
The Bad:
The lid fits SO tight to the top of the pot as to make taking it off a serious chore and we’ve each bashed or pinched a finger almost every time. Once on, the lid has no intention of ever coming off without seriously wrenching it. We have to apply leverage and excessive amounts of force to make it pop off. After spending an hour putting it on and taking it off in hopes of it weakening ever so slightly, we found no joy.
Next Steps:
We will continue to take it with us in hopes that possibly LONG term use breaks it in and allows the lid to stay on when you want it but still be able to come off when you need to without needing a Greek Demi-god.
